Ever since Intel announced the latest Xeon D processors, the heat has continued and tremendous discussions online. ASRock Rack, the innovative server technology provider makes the use of the amazing features to release two new models D1540D4U-2T2O8R and D1520D4I, targeting the exponential growth for edge data.

Intel Xeon D is the first SoC based on Intel Xeon Processor technology. Compared with its predecessor, the performance is enhanced per node/per watt. ASRock Rack released D1540D4I-2T2O8R in microATX and D1520D4I in miniITX. Except for the big core performance from Xeon D, the new models fully support DDR4 ECC DIMM, max. 128G. Moreover, the I/O interface upgrades to support dual 10G ports, PCIe3.0, SATA 3 and USB3.0. To sum up, the new Xeon D motherboards provide the users to build an optimized infrastructure with high density and a better total cost of ownership (TCO) while the cloud service, telecom service providers and hosting datacenter providers are facing the challenge to deliver and handle the fast growing numbers of users access their services!

D1540D4U-2T2O8R
D1540D4U-2T2O8R uses microATX form factor, due to the advantage of storage, it fits in a 1U chassis with 14 trays of 3.5 HDDs for convergence storage serves to handle Web 2.0 warm data. It features with 8 cores D1540 processor, 4 DDR4 ECC DIMM slots, capable of handling lightweight hyper-scale workloads. To give more details, the board has 6*SATA 3 slots and another 8*SAS3 slots from LSI3008 as a decent storage capacity, besides, there are double M.2 slots for either OS back-up or extra cache in big data environment. It can deploy the 1U or 2U storage servers perfectly. On top of that, the I/O interface is fantastic, it supports up to 40G Ethernet controllers, provides the ultimate throughput for numerous users trying to access the datacenter service. All in all, D1540D4U-2T2O8R presents an impressive performance in computing, storage and network criteria, it also brings the users an innovative option to build up Openstack storage servers under such circumstance.
