WhereScape will host a webinar with Data Vault Inventor Dan Linstedt on November 2 to detail Data Vault 2.0 automated model development use cases

WhereScape, the data warehouse automation pioneer with software solutions for profiling, building, extending and managing data warehouses, analytic systems and big data platforms, today announced new features for its automation software that support faster development of Data Vault 2.0 data models. New in WhereScape RED, WhereScape’s flagship automation software, are Data Vault 2.0 templates that further accelerate Data Vault 2.0 model development and metadata enhancements that enable users to define and build Data Vault 2.0-specific objects and their relationships separate from existing star, data store and normalized models. New in WhereScape 3D, the company’s data profiling solution, are out of the box Data Vault 2.0-specific model conversion rules.

Data Vault 2.0 leverages parallel database processing for large data sets and provides an extensible approach to design that enables agile development. WhereScape’s automation software solutions enable Data Vault agile project delivery through accelerated development, documentation and deployment without sacrificing quality or flexibility. The integration and synergy between the Data Vault 2.0 methodology and WhereScape’s automation solutions enable organizations to deliver analytical results to decision-makers in hours and days instead of weeks and months while lowering risk and reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).

Vodafone Netherlands Uses WhereScape to Solve Integration Challenges
Vodafone Netherlands is part of the Vodafone Group, one of the largest mobile telecommunications companies in the world. Vodafone Netherlands has nearly 240 retail outlets, more than five million customers and nearly 3,200 employees. According to Jos Driessen, Manager BICC Strategy & Architecture, Vodafone Netherlands’ ETL development was previously very complicated and expensive. As an example, the company spent a lot of money and nine months to integrate a core system which resulted in poor data quality and reports deemed unusable. Vodafone wanted to deliver new initiatives and changes much faster, improve data quality/freshness, all while reducing operating expenses.

“In the past, a project would take at least six months–we now use WhereScape RED with an agile methodology to present new sources to business users in a few days,” Driessen said. “We worked with WhereScape to deliver the templates that are contained in this WhereScape RED release that fully support Data Vault 2.0 code generation. Many of the savings we incur are based on the fact that WhereScape RED automatically generates Data Vault 2.0 code,” Driessen said. Added Dan Linstedt, founder and inventor of the Data Vault data model and methodology, “Data Vault 2.0 is a proven design methodology that, when combined with WhereScape’s automation solutions, enables organizations to implement data warehouses, BI and big data environments much faster and with agility. WhereScape’s automation capabilities and improved Data Vault 2.0 code generation functionality enable organizations to collaboratively and iteratively work with business users to deliver value faster to stakeholders,” Linstedt said.
