GPU Education Centers are recognized institutions that have integrated GPU computing techniques into their mainstream computer programming curriculum. GPU computing leverages the parallel processing capabilities of GPU accelerators and enabling software to deliver dramatic increases in performance for scientific, analytics, engineering, consumer, and enterprise applications.

The HPC Academy was recognized for its commitment to advancing the state of parallel programming education. From its inception, the HPC Academy has designed innovative trainings to democratize parallel programming and the acquisition of skills in the management of HPC hardware infrastructures. The Academy has therefore developed continuing education programs targeting scientists, active professionals and job seekers, with courses available in English and French, and very soon in other European languages. The Academy has now two training centers, one in Paris, France, the other one in Laval in the Mayenne region (West of France).

One of the originalities in the HPC Academy’s trainings courses is that they’re designed to be interactive and based on attendee engagement. Once a course is completed, free workshops enable trainees to apply, with the help of a specialized trainer, newly acquired knowledge to the discipline or code of their choice. With topics ranging from “New Calculation Paradigms with NVIDIA CUDA” and “Develop for Performance” to “Automatic Evaluation of Digital Scientific Uncertainty”, the HPC Academy is catering to engineers, scientists and students of all levels.

“We’re very excited to have been selected as a GPU Education Center by NVIDIA” Frederic MILLIOT, The HPC Academy’s President, declared. “This program will allow us to further develop our evangelization and training programs targeting both seasoned professionals and beginners in parallel computing, and help us spread knowledge and best practices in high-performance computing all across Europe. It will also support our ambitious collaborative coding projects to be contributed back to the community. Considering the relatively young age of the HPC Academy, NVIDIA’s official recognition of our efforts is a real encouragement for all the members of our Educational, Research and Scientific Committees.”

“It’s a very good thing that the HPC Academy is now a GPU Education Center. The HPC community in France and Europe really needs an organization capable of uniting educational and research efforts in high-performance computing in order to boost the region’s competitiveness and improve its job market in parallel computing. We look forward to continue working closely with The HPC Academy to help in these matters…” Guillaume Barat, Deep Learning and Higher-Education Business Development Team, NVIDIA, added.

As a GPU Education Center, The HPC Academy will have access to NVIDIA GPU hardware and software, and NVIDIA parallel programming experts and resources, including educational webinars and an array of teaching materials. The HPC Academy students and faculty also receive access to free GPU programming training at nvidia.qwiklab.com. The comprehensive, self-paced training spans introductory to expert level coursework on a range of GPU programming languages, applications, libraries, programming models and tools. GPU Education Centers were formerly known as CUDA Teaching Centers.
