GTC 2016’s second major announcement was around Virtual Reality – thus becoming a huge priority for nVidia. Not just a gadget anymore, but a whole new platform. Through the last generatoin of headmounted displays, VR allows new usages in gaming and design, as well as previously impossible things like the demo of a fly-by visit around mount Everest, rendered in real-time. Jen-Hsun also announced Mars was being simulated that way, on an eight square kilometers area created from real data provided courtesy of NASA. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak even made the demo along Jen-Hsun, showing he was having great fun.
